The Product Analyst - Surpac is responsible for analysing and communicating customer requirements, and supporting the improvement of Gemcom Surpac™ throughout the product development lifecycle.
Gemcom Surpac is the world’s most popular geology and mine planning software, supporting open pit and underground operations and exploration projects in more than 110 countries. The software delivers efficiency and accuracy through ease-of-use, powerful 3D graphics and workflow automation that can be aligned to company-specific processes and data flows.
The Product Analyst will work closely with the product team to interpret and analyse market requirements, create user-centered solutions, and partner with product management and product development to release successful products for the mining industry. Reporting to the Product Line Manager for GEMS and Surpac, this position is pivotal in ensuring effective user advocacy in the development process.
Critical Tasks
- Create and maintain user personas to describe the target audience which includes ideal and stereotypical users of Surpac;
- Create and maintain scenarios for user personas to describe instances of market problems or situations;
- Document and maintain detailed product requirements, including use cases, UI sketches, performance requirements, etc;
- Create and maintain story maps to break down the work into deliverable tasks to support the agile development practise;
- Create and maintain user stories to describe each item in the backlog;
- Provide timely responses to the Development team on all usage questions;
- Define the user experience of the application with stories, UI sketches, flow charts etc.
- Create, update and maintain the development backlog;
- Manage and prioritise entire product backlog;
- Measure release milestones against plan;
- Communicate risks and deviations appropriately;
- Moderate, respond to and manage discussions on the user forums;
- Evaluate business development opportunities to develop and increase the user group;
- Diagnose and document issues that are not resolvable at level 1 or 2 support
Attirbutes & Qualifications:
- Strong analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills;
- Ability to translate market requirements into solutions, focused on user experience;
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
Experience:
- 2 years+ experience with Gemcom Surpac
- 2 years+ experience in the mining industry
- Experience with Gemcom GEMS or similar software applications (desired)
- Experience in the software industry (desired)
- Experience with agile methodologies (desired)
