Senior Business Analyst - InSite

The EBU services team within Gemcom is staffed with mining experts and IT professionals in South-Africa, Australia, Canada and around the world.  The team is responsible for implementing the InSite software and providing value-added services at our mining customers.

We currently have an opening for a Senior Business Analyst for the InSite product. You will bring your knowledge of software creation or (mineral) processing software systems to evaluate and analyse Gemcom client’s processes and systems and match these with the Insite Product capabilities.

Job Purpose:

To add value to our clients’ high-level software implementation and use through requirement gathering, customization, solution development, problem solving, training, testing, deployment, support. 

Critical Tasks:

Solutions  Consulting  and Training
• Provide expert advice to customers
• Deliver consulting services
• Participate in scoping, solution design and implementation of complete project solution
• Work on multiple projects and helps to ensure delivery of service within scope of each project.
• Manage personal time inputs and expenses according to project budgets
• Ensure that individual effort contributes to achievement of key measures and outcomes
• Design and deliver training courses as required

Technical and Product Support
• Develop, modify and maintain product customizations including reports, data entry screens, integration adapters
• Demonstrate sound product knowledge and understanding of scope of product, its functionality and application to industry
• Provide support to resolve customer / user requirements
• Provide assistance and guidance to junior consultants to ensure delivery of high level customer support
• Provide feedback on product direction, improvements and enhancements
• Participate in quality assessment and testing of pre-release product improvements and enhancements
• Build Gemcom Product expertise to keep up to date with latest technologies

Qualifications:

• University degree in Information Technology, Information Systems or Computer Technology.
• Earth Sciences Studies (Desirable)
• Advanced knowledge in the following IT technologies:
o Microsoft SQL Server (Preferable 2008 R2)
o SQL language, Stored Procedures / Function development and maintenance
o SQL configuration, setup and maintenance
o SQL Server Reporting Services
o Visual Studio 2008
o Windows 2008 Server support
o Scripting, visual basic
• Software Development Experience such as ASP.Net, C, C#,  Web application development and support (Desirable)

Experience:

• 7+ years in consulting and customer facing position in the IT industry
• Experience in the Mining or Mineral Processing Industries (Desirable)
• SQL Query writing
• Report creation using systems such as Reporting Services, Crystal Reports, Business Objects or similar
• Project leadership
• Project management experience
