Technical Product Manager, Scheduling & Optimization

The development team within Gemcom is staffed with software professionals in Australia, Canada and India.  The team is responsible for researching, developing, maintaining and delivering to market all of our software and technologies.

JOB PURPOSE:

Reporting to the Product Line Manager, Engineering Applications, the Technical Product Manager will be responsible to turn a product line strategy into reality.  The incumbent will work with the Product Line Manager to translate high level market requirements into user scenarios and then communicate those clearly to the development teams to create world-class products that meet market needs.  As the technical expert in Gemcom’s scheduling products, the Technical Product Manager will be a key interface in supporting the global Services organization to create a worldwide network of product experts.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Clear Market Requirements to Drive Development:

·         Clearly articulate the needs of the market and development constraints in the form of market requirements

·         Support the understanding of the market needs during the development cycle

·         Support the product use and prioritize issues in the customer base

Management of Release Processes:

·         Manage the release process with key stakeholders

·         Publish and update the release schedule as needed

·         Coordinate with the stakeholders along the steps of the release process to ensure a smooth delivery of the product

Market Analysis

·         Competitive Analysis

·         Win/Loss Analysis

Product Innovation:

·         Be aware of technologies associated with the product

·         Assess technologies that could enhance product offering

QUALIFICATIONS:

·         Knowledge of computer software development

·         Mining industry experience

·         Experience mine planning software

·         Able to travel internationally up to 25% of time

EXPERIENCE:

·         Degree in Engineering or equivalent

·         5+ years experience in mine planning
